# Set-up Your Organization

> Manage organization members, teams, study defaults, and billing access.

An organization groups your team's research, members, and billing accounts. Organization admins manage its settings. Study permissions and billing permissions are separate: creating a study does not automatically authorize every billing action.

## Quick Reference

| Organization role | Main responsibilities |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Admin | Manage organization settings and members; automatically manage studies and billing accounts in the organization. |
| Member | Create studies and study requests; work on studies according to their study permissions. |
| Viewer | Access studies shared with them; cannot create studies or study requests. |

An organization **Viewer** does not automatically see every study. Access can come from direct sharing, a team, a project, or organization-wide study sharing. See [Study Sharing](/docs/settings-and-management/permissions-and-sharing).

## Step 1: Access Organization Settings

Open **Settings** and use the **Organization** section. Confirm the selected organization before changing settings or inviting colleagues.

## Step 2: Configure Organization Profile

Review the organization profile and display preferences. Set **Default facet units (unfiltered)** and **Default facet units (filtered)** to **Absolute** or **Percentage**. The **Small-sample threshold** controls warnings on charts with few responses and guides AI reports toward themes and counts; set it to 0 to disable these warnings. Administrators can configure default study permissions using **Set up default study permissions** or **Configure default study permissions**. These defaults apply when new studies are created; review existing studies separately.

For research organization, see [projects and tags](/docs/settings-and-management/projects-and-tags).

Organization settings also include:

* **Enable personas**: controls whether the Personas tab is available in studies.
* **Personal information detection**: organization-level controls for transcript scanning and participant-name redaction. See [review personal information](/docs/settings-and-management/personal-data-review) for setup, human review, and recording limitations.
* **Study sharing** and public-sharing policies: control which broad audiences can be granted access. See [sharing policies](/docs/settings-and-management/permissions-and-sharing#organization-sharing-policies).

## Step 3: Invite New Organization Members

Open **Organization members** and use the invitation controls to enter the colleague's email address and choose an organization role. Review pending invitations and existing memberships in the same area.

Choose roles based on required responsibilities. Use individual study or team sharing for narrower access instead of assigning Admin merely to make a study visible.

## Set up teams

Open **Teams** to create and manage groups of collaborators. Organization admins can manage teams; a team's **Manager** can manage the team they have access to. Use **Add members** to select collaborators, and review Member or Manager assignments.

Where available, use **Teams you can request to join** to ask for team access. Team managers review **Pending Access Requests** and can approve or deny them. Creating or deleting a team requires an organization admin.

Team membership does not itself determine whether a study is editable. The permission granted to the team on that study determines the access its members inherit. For example, sharing a study with a team as Viewer gives that team viewing access, even if someone is a Manager of the team.

## Set up billing accounts

Use **Billing** to review the accounts available to you. Configure account access for people, teams, or the organization using Manager, Approver, or Requester access. Organization admins automatically have Manager access.

See [Billing](/docs/settings-and-management/billing) for approval requirements, purchase-order settings, balances, and statements. These permissions are independent of team and study roles.

## Review access as the team changes

When a colleague changes responsibilities, review organization membership, team membership, direct study access, and billing access. Removing one grant may leave access through another source. Use the study's sharing controls to inspect its audience before distributing the link.
