What Are Quote Reels?

A Quote Reel combines selected interview clips into a video. Use a reel to show participant reactions or illustrate a research theme. A reel is a selection of evidence, so review the surrounding interview context before presenting clips as representative findings. To build a reel from evidence you have already saved, select quotes or video insights in Bookmarks, then choose Create quote reel.

Creating a New Quote Reel

1. Open your study’s Analyze page and choose New Quote Reel.
2. Describe the theme or reactions to include.
3. Click Create to start a conversation that builds the reel.
4. Review the selected clips and open the reel editor to refine them.

Saved reels appear in Outputs. Generating a reel from a brief and editing its final clips are separate steps.

Adding Quotes to a Reel

Use the editor’s clip picker to add relevant quotes. Where Video Insights is enabled, the picker also offers video-insight clips. Available clips depend on the study and its recordings; text alone cannot provide a participant video recording. A reel can combine clips from multiple interviews. For a reel spanning studies, access to the contributing studies determines who can view, edit, and download it.

Editing a Quote Reel

Reorder Clips

Drag clips into the playback order you want. Use Preview reel to review the sequence together rather than judging each clip in isolation.

Trim Clips

Select a clip and adjust its start and end in the timeline. Listen to the resulting cut so that the participant’s meaning remains clear.

Show or Hide Clips

Hide a clip to exclude it from the reel’s playback without removing it from the editor. Show the clip again to include it.

Add or Remove Clips

Use the clip picker to add evidence or remove unwanted clips from the sequence. Clip edits remain unsaved until you choose Save and Render. Review any unsaved-change prompt before leaving the editor.

Video Settings

Choose landscape (16:9) or portrait (9:16). For landscape recordings in a portrait reel, adjust the crop to keep the relevant subject visible.

Captions

Embed captions controls captions for the reel. Individual clips can follow that default or override it. Review caption accuracy and timing in context.

Blur Video (Optional)

Blur video blurs the video image; it is not a background-only effect. Individual clips can follow or override the reel default. Blurring does not remove identifying information from speech or captions, so review all three before sharing.

Managing Quote Reels

Choose Save and Render to save the sequence and generate the video. Wait for rendering before downloading the finished output. After changing clips or presentation settings, render again to produce an updated video. Saving edits requires editor access to the study. Cross-study reels require editor access to every contributing study. Downloading uses separate video-download permissions; being able to view a reel does not guarantee permission to download it.

Rename, delete, and share a reel

Use the reel’s available actions to rename it or regenerate its compiled video. These changes require reel editing access. If rendering fails, inspect the error and retry generation where offered; playback availability does not guarantee that a new downloadable file is ready. Deleting a standalone reel removes its compiled video and clip sequence while retaining the original quotes and interview evidence. Theme-linked reels cannot be deleted through the standalone delete action. Review any warning about an insight that uses the reel, and check links before removing a shared output. Previously downloaded copies are unaffected. Use Share to choose the audience permitted by your organization’s sharing policy. Managing a public link or its introduction requires sharing-management permission, not only permission to edit clips. The standalone reel link is a public-viewing page: if public access is removed, that URL stops opening even for someone who can view the reel through Conveo. Send an in-app link to authorized colleagues when public sharing is not intended. A public viewing link does not grant the separate video-download permission. Recheck clip content, captions, and the sharing audience after editing a reel that is already shared.

Reviewing a Reel

Check clip order, cuts, captions, cropping, and blur in the final playback. Keep enough context to avoid changing a participant’s meaning. Confirm that the reel’s audience is appropriate before using its sharing controls or distributing an exported video.

When to Use Quote Reels vs Reports

Use a Quote Reel for participant video evidence. Use a Report for the written explanation, broader findings, and limitations. Reports are the current written-output workflow previously called Stories.
