Share a study with the people who need to work on it or use its findings. Access can come from several sources, so removing an individual share does not necessarily remove a person’s access.

Key Concepts

Organization roles control organization responsibilities. Study roles control work on a particular study. Teams let you grant access to a group, while projects can provide inherited access to their studies. Organization admins automatically have full study access. Study creators retain automatic full access while they remain in the study’s organization. Ordinary organization membership, including the Viewer role, does not by itself grant access to every study.

Quick Reference

Use Full access for collaborators responsible for sharing and deletion, Editor for study editing, and Viewer for reading. Billing approval is controlled separately through billing account access.

Sharing Studies

Permissions

Bulk study data export requires both study viewing access and membership in the study’s owning organization. Public viewing access alone does not authorize that export. Some collaboration actions have their own rules. For example, signed-in readers can participate in topic-guide comments. A Viewer role is therefore not a promise that every interactive action is disabled.

How to Share

  1. Open the study and select Share. Managing sharing requires Full access.
  2. Select people or teams and choose the study role they need.
  3. Confirm with Share.
  4. Review General access before distributing the study URL.
Restricted limits general access; named grants and inherited access still apply. Anyone in your organization grants the selected access within the organization when this option is permitted. Anyone with the link allows public access when organization policy permits it. Treat public study access as broader than sharing one finished output. For a focused deliverable, use the relevant report, slide deck, or quote reel sharing controls.

Troubleshooting

Sharing Conversations

Sharing a Talk to Your Data conversation grants access to the conversation. It does not automatically grant access to all source studies. Recipients need read access to every associated study to open the conversation and continue working with it.

Sharing Levels

  • Restricted: no broad organization-wide audience, while named and inherited grants still apply.
  • Specific people or teams: access according to their assigned conversation role.
  • Organization-wide: access through an organization grant, subject to source-study access checks.
Organization admins have automatic access to ordinary conversations in their organization, and the owner retains access. Restricted conversation sharing should not be interpreted as privacy from organization admins. Internal Conveo support conversations may have additional visibility restrictions.

How to Share

Open the conversation’s Share controls, choose recipients and roles, and confirm the share. Check the recipients’ source-study access as well. The conversation sharing controls do not offer a new anonymous public conversation link.

Making Conversations Private

Set general access to Restricted and remove unwanted people or teams. Review inherited project access where applicable. These changes do not remove the owner’s or organization admins’ automatic permissions.

Permission Hierarchy

Permissions from available sources combine; a weaker grant does not cancel a stronger grant. For example, Viewer access granted directly plus Editor access through a team allows editing. Removing the team grant leaves the direct Viewer grant in place.

Organization sharing policies

Organization admins control sharing audiences in Settings → Organization → Organization profile → Security. Disabling organization-wide study sharing removes that broad sharing option for new grants and new studies; review existing grants separately. Public-sharing settings distinguish reports, slide decks, quote reels, and other resources. When disabling a public-sharing scope, review the confirmation dialog’s existing-share list and revocation action. Revoking a public share affects people using that link. Keep needed outputs shared through an approved audience before distributing replacement links.
