Uploaded Studies is in private beta. Contact the Conveo team about access and study setup. Uploading recordings requires permission to edit the study.
What Are Uploaded Studies?
Uploaded Studies bring existing interview videos into Conveo for transcription and research analysis. Use this workflow for recorded interviews rather than recruiting participants for a new Conveo interview.
Conveo attempts to distinguish the interviewer from the participant and extract the participant’s name when mentioned. Review the transcript before using the resulting findings: speaker recognition and name extraction are AI-generated and can be incorrect.
The upload interface supports common video formats, including MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, and WebM, with a 6 GB limit per file. Files must contain a usable video recording; renaming a non-video file does not convert it. If a recording is rejected or fails processing, try a standard MP4 with H.264 video.
Upload acceptance does not guarantee successful transcoding or an accurate transcript. Keep the original recording until you have reviewed the processed result.
How It Works
- Choose the interview language and add your video files.
- Start the upload from the upload dashboard.
- Conveo creates an uploaded interview, processes the video, and transcribes its audio.
- Speaker identification assigns transcript turns to the interviewer or participant. Name extraction may populate the participant’s name.
- Review the interview and complete the study’s analysis or billing requirements before relying on generated insights.
An interview can appear as completed in the grid while video or transcript processing is still underway. Completion status alone does not establish that analysis is ready.
Supported Languages
Select a language from Interview Language before starting the upload. Upload transcription has its own language list; do not assume every language available for Conveo-moderated interviews is available for uploads.
Available languages include Arabic, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese. The selector includes regional variants for some languages.
Select the language actually spoken in the recording. Language selection is explicit; do not depend on automatic language detection. Upload different-language recordings in separate batches using the appropriate selection.
Pro Tips
Use clear recordings with minimal overlapping speech. Include an introduction when useful, but do not assume that a mentioned name will be extracted correctly. Check names, speaker attribution, and key quotations against the recording.
Quick Reference
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Access Uploaded Studies
Open Upload videos in your configured study. If access is missing, check study permissions and the study’s upload setup with your study owner or Conveo contact.
Step 2: Select Interview Language
Choose Interview Language for the recordings you are about to upload. Keep that selection consistent while the batch uploads.
Step 3: Upload Your Video
Drag files into the dashboard or browse for them, then start the upload. Review individual file errors and upload progress. The original filename is retained as an interview label to help match the interview to its source recording.
Step 4: Wait for Processing
Wait for the processed recording and transcript to become available. Transcoding prepares the video for playback; transcription creates speaker-labeled text; speaker identification turns that text into interview messages. These steps can finish at different times.
If the file upload succeeds but no interview appears, or processing remains incomplete, contact support with the study and filename before uploading duplicate copies.
Step 5: Review and Analyze
Open the Interview Grid and review the recording, transcript, speaker attribution, and participant name. Uploaded interviews do not recreate the original recording’s topic-guide questions or screener answers automatically.
On Analyze, follow the completion, billing-account, payment, or approval action shown for your study. Uploading alone does not grant access to all analysis. See Billing for account and approval concepts, and Reports for written outputs.
Speaker and recording limitations
The transcript workflow is designed around an interviewer and a participant. A single detected speaker is treated as the participant. In recordings with additional speakers, speech not attributed to the interviewer can be treated as participant speech; do not rely on this workflow to preserve individual identities in a focus group.
Overlapping speech, poor audio, unclear introductions, and mixed languages can reduce accuracy. An extracted name may be absent or incorrect. Review the evidence before drawing conclusions or sharing quotes.
Completing the study
Upload and review all intended recordings before completing the study. Once completed, the upload page and upload action reject further videos. Analysis readiness and upload completion are distinct, so check both before sharing results.
